Yes, I dislike doctor-companion romances. Yes, I'm Thasmin stan. We exist
#i also like rose and the doctor#i think i just default to not liking dr/companion romances and i dont think theyre neccessary or even good for the plot of the show#but a few specific ones do grow on me yk?#i just think the power imbalance is complicated and it often feels quite heteronormative#like wow 'boy' and girl hang out they have to fall in love!!!!#i guess i personally have always thought of the doctor as on the aro/ace spectrum#and they fall in love with some companions absolutely but it has to be rare and has to be a process#having them fall in love every damn incarnation is getting very old for me#this rant was inspired by someone talking about wanting 15 to have a gay romance and i was like . i kind of do not want another romance#a) because im a thasmin fan and unless a lot of time passes it would feel disloyal somehow#(and reduce the likelihood that the implications of Jodie's era will be even vaguely gestured at next era)#and b) because i simply do not like the concept of them#doctor who went like 30-40 years without any 'hanky panky in the tardis' at all#so it doesnt really make sense if the doctor has a Great Love every incarnation now#and i really and truly do not think it's neccessary#not to even get into the power dynamics of it all#anyway#doctor who#thasmin
